Contributing to the dynamic landscape of energy and climate innovation, ICA-Finance participated in ADIPEC 2023 in Abu Dhabi, UAE, one of the world’s most influential gatherings for energy industry professionals.
The event, held on the 9th of October 2023, was a testament to the global commitment to sustainable energy practices and the increasing focus on decarbonization as a pathway to a cleaner energy future.
ICA-Finance was represented at the event by our CEO Arne Peder Blix and Brian Robertson, CDO. Our CEO took stage at a strategic panel discussion on "Carbon tax vs. subsidies: what is the regulatory method to accelerate emissions reduction?" It was highlighted that to reach the global and national net-zero targets, companies and stakeholders need to place emphasis on achieving large-scale quantifiable and permanent methane and GHG reductions going beyond one-off project development. In the context of carbon taxation and subsidies, the policy mechanisms need to contribute to achieving the broader methane and greenhouse gas emission reduction programs, particularly in regions which face significant financial barriers. Given the diverging regulatory, economic and political environments of the high-emitting countries from Africa to the Middle East and Asia, ICA-Finance’s role was highlighted as a practice and thought leader in combatting this crucial issue.
The event showcased the latest technologies and methods for reducing carbon footprint with industry leaders seeking comprehensive services to guide them through their decarbonization journey. ICA-Finance’s participation highlighted our ability, experience and readiness to support and partner with organizations by applying innovative financing and project development frameworks using effective market mechanisms, such as carbon credits and markets, and voluntary emission reduction contributions.
We thank the organizers, participants, and our dedicated team for the successful event, and we look forward to continuing these critical conversations to drive progress in the energy industry.
